| Dear Artist
I am currently pursuing a challenging project that involves
a lot of ambitious thinking and cooperation.
The project outline consists of my own discovery and how
I am perceived in the world. I have asked a wide range
of people who know me well to give a brief description
of my personality traits. My aim is to send these descriptions
to artists around the world and provide an interpretation
of the description. It is entirely up to the artist what
the image is, what it portrays and how much time is spent
on it.
The reason for sending the descriptions all over the world
is because I am fascinated by existence. Sometimes I find
myself not believing peoples’ accounts of places
until I have experienced them myself. Through this project
I am able to reach a diverse range of people and nationalities
and thus prove the existence of you, the artist and the
place you are from.
I have chosen roughly 70 artist's to take part in the
project. The artist's I have chosen inspire me and I also
feel this is a challenging project both for myself and
those involved.
I am determined to make this project work and this is
why I am asking for your help.
All communication will be through email or any other technology
you prefer. I must emphasize that the way you approach
the description of me is your choice. I am not necessarily
looking for a rich, detailed illustration but would much
prefer a rough sketch and it wouldn't matter if it took
you a couple of minutes to produce. Then all you would
have to do is email it back to me.
Unfortunately I cannot pay you to do this but your input
would benefit me hugely. I am currently a student at Central
St Martins, London. The end result will be exhibited in
a gallery in London and all artists will be acknowledged.
Also a photograph of the piece will be sent to each participant.
I would also be willing to help with any project that you
would be considering.
Could you please let me know if you are up for it. Even
if you do not want to take part please let me know so I
know how many artist's are taking part. I understand that
you may have a very busy schedule but please try and find
time for this project.
Thanks, Charlie Kwai.
